Video: HB 1430 Stays on House Agenda

At 11:30 a.m. today, the Oklahoma House of Representatives Calendar Committee voted to keep House Bill 1430 on the house agenda. A motion was made to remove the bill from the slate, and another motion was made to table it. After a vote, the H.B.1430 remained on the house agenda.

You've heard of bills dying in committee. Well, that did not happen today. That means, we must now lobby against the bill, but more importantly advocate for the Oklahoma Art in Public Places program.

The vote was 7 to 11, with seven legislators voting to remove H.B. 1430 from the slate including five Democrats and two Republicans. We appreciate the support of the following legislators. The arts are nonpartisan.

Below is a two minute video of the committee meeting. I apologize for the poor quality of the video, but it will give you an idea of what committee meetings are like.

We will continue to keep you updated. Please write your legislators a personal note and tell them how much the Art in Public Places program means to our state.

Also, it would be great if you could send a note to those representatives who voted against moving House Bill 1430 to the full house agenda.
