There is a great connection to be fostered between public transit and public art. You've heard of art walks, but what about art rides?
Thanks to Denver's Regional Transit District's Art-n-Transit program, people can enjoy an eclectic array of public art pieces at more than 30 light rail stations and bus terminals throughout the Denver metropolitan region. Wouldn't it be great to have something like that in Oklahoma's metropolitan regions?
Come out tonight to the OKC Farmers Public Market for a free symposium on public transit in Central Oklahoma. You'll hear from:
Jarrett Walker, a public transit planning consultant from Portland, Oregon; Oklahoma City Councilman Ed Shadid; Roy Williams, President and CEO of the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and Doug Rex, Transportation Planning Director at the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments.
Oklahomans for the Arts is part of the Central Oklahoma Regional Transit Dialogue Steering Committee.
