6 Ways to Promote Arts Day at the Capitol on Social Networks

USE THE HASHTAG #OKARTSDAY
The hashtag for Arts Day at the Capitol is #OKARTSDAY. Hashtags are used on social networks to help people identify formal or informal causes people are supporting. So, when you post to your social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Google+ etc., about your Arts Day at the Capitol activities, please be sure to use the hashtag #OKARTSDAY. This will help people see arts advocates in full swing on April 30! Also, try to include the Oklahoma Arts Council in your tweets: @OKARTSCOUNCIL.

Example: I’m at the Oklahoma Capitol to support the @OKARTSCOUNCIL and funding for the arts #OKARTSDAY

EMAIL YOUR NETWORK
Let your stakeholders (including your Board of Directors) know that you are coming to Arts Day. Craft a special email to them letting them know what you’re doing and why you’re participating. Remind them of your Twitter and Facebook URLs and invite them to follow you on April 30.

DOWNLOAD/USE INSTAGRAM
Bring your iPhones and Androids. If you haven’t downloaded the FREE Instagram app for both, consider doing so. Use the app to take pictures of Arts Day at the Capitol. You can enable sharing via Instagram across all your social networking sites. Your photos of Arts Day at the Capitol can automatically post to Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Flickr. Take pictures of friends, tables/booths, activities, yourself and artwork. Don’t be shy. If you see a legislator, ask if you can get your picture with him or her. We all love recognition!

DON’T FORGET LINKEDIN and GOOGLE+
Don’t ignore these social networks in your promotions. The business people we need to reach are on LinkedIn and the early adopters of technology and new ideas that we need to reach are on Google+

BLOGGING
If you blog, please write pre-event and post-event posts about the event. Include pictures and your own special observations!

PROMOTE OKLAHOMA ARTS COUNCIL
Encourage people in your social networks to follow the Oklahoma Arts Council’s Facebook Page and Twitter accounts: www.facebook.com/OklahomaArtsCouncil and www.twitter.com/OKArtsCouncil.
